Your Photos

Photo Quality

Ideally, we would like your photo to be in .jpeg or .tiff format at 300 dpi. We can often work with photos with quality issues. Feel free to send us your photo and we will let you know if it is reproducible and up to what size we can reproduce it before having noticeable pixilation.

Original Photos

Original photographs are welcome. The photos we receive from our customers are scanned in on a high resolution photo scanner before they are sent to our Design Department. We discourage you from sending photos that have been reproduced using an inkjet printer since these photos rarely scan well. All original photos will be returned with your order. When sending your photos to us, please provide your name and a description of your order along with your order number and then send them to the following address:

Digital Photos

If you are using a digital camera to take your photos, we encourage you to use a 5 megapixel camera or higher. Set the photo quality to "fine". Photos that are 500 KB to 1 MB or larger usually enlarge very well. If you are not sure if the quality of your photo will work, please e-mail it to us and we'll let you know if the quality will be an issue.

Scanned Photos

We welcome photos that you have scanned in yourself. Please crop the photo as desired and then scan in at 300 dpi or higher and save as a .jpeg file. Save the file in RGB mode with the highest quality setting using a low level of compression. If you have an older photo that you do not want sent to us via mail due to fear of loss or damage, you can have your photo scanned in at a local print shop and then e-mailed to our art department. We never recommend sending MYPB an irreplaceable photo. Mail does get lost and photos can get damaged in transit. We would hate to see anything happened to a treasured photo.

To Wrap or Not To Wrap

In our Big Photos Gallery you will see a variety of enlargements with both the photo wrapped onto the side and a solid color (usually black) on the side of the frame. Depending on how much photo there is to work with and the customer's preference, the design department will make a recommendation on whether or not to wrap the photo onto the side of the frame. Wrapping a photo onto the sides that does not have enough image to work with could result in cropping of the subjects within the photo. Your designer will work with you to ensure your photo turns out exactly as you expect.

Complex Design Options

More complex design such as adding or removing people or objects is available at a one-time fee of $39.00. Because every design project is different, we do not offer this service during the checkout or retail packet process. Our designers will inform you if this design fee will apply on your project before starting. As always, our standard Design Effects are free on all of our enlargements. Some examples where the $39.00 design fee would apply include the following:

  • Adding/Removing Objects or People
  • Removing/Replacing Background
  • Major Photo Restoration (cracks, tears, fading)
  • Custom Design Effects

Proofing

At MYPB we believe proofing is essential in making sure you receive the enlargement you expect. Upon receiving your photos, your designer will create a proof and e-mail or mail (you can decide this option during the ordering process) your proof to you for your approval. Your designer may provide more than one proof to give you options as to what your design could look like. Either way, the proofing stage is one of the many ways we ensure your satisfaction.

Copyright Issues

At MYPB we are artists and highly respect the work and efforts of those in the photography industry. We will not reproduce copyright work without written permission from the photographer or artist. If we are receiving a photo from you, we are assuming it is a photo that you have taken or received permission from the photographer to reproduce. If you order a canvas enlargement of a copyright photo or piece of art without permission from the photographer or artist, you will be held responsible for damages. If you are an artist or photographer and believe one of our customers has violated a copyright with the reproduction of one of your photos, please contact us immediately so that we may assist you in rectifying the problem.

Custom Sizes

If you have a residential or commercial application for canvas enlargements from MYPB that requires a custom size, please contact us so that we may provide you with a quote. We'll be happy to accommodate.
